A typing trainer that unlocks one letter at a time.
Most typing tutors hand you the whole keyboard on day one. typer doesn't. You start with two letters. The next one joins your set only once every active letter clears your target speed. The goal isn't to grind — it's to build muscle memory letter by letter, then word by word.
How it works
- Two letters to start. The earliest unlocks are the most common keys on the home row.
- Unlock-on-target. Every active letter has to clear your target WPM (smoothed across recent attempts) before the next one joins.
- Words mode appears next. Once enough real English words are typeable with your current alphabet (around 30), the words mode opens up.
- Stages stack on top. After the full alphabet, capital letters, then punctuation, then numbers — each gated on the same target-speed condition.
- Per-letter feedback. The sidebar shows a live bar for every unlocked letter. Click any of them to drill that letter for a few lessons.
What's in the box
- Three lesson modes: pseudo-words (drilling), real words, and custom text.
- Live WPM and accuracy, plus a 60-second test to compare against a fixed baseline.
- Heatmap of your most-typed days and time-of-day patterns.
- Achievements that unlock for the typical milestones (10 lessons, 100 lessons, full alphabet, 60 WPM, etc).
- Optional Google sign-in to sync your profile across devices. Plays just as well anonymously.
What it isn't
It isn't a typing game with scores, ranks, and a leaderboard. It also isn't trying to teach you to compete at typing. It's a calm tool for getting fluent on the home row first, and gradually owning the rest of the keyboard.
